construite et aménagée uniquement pour servir les intérêts des hommes.
Il faudra de la fermeté, et malheureusement, de la violence pour imposer
des changements ...Ces changements sont incontournables si nous voulons
créer une société de droit.
Sexual harassment
Someone was telling
lately that they are three places in
the world, strongly dependent on testoterone and the tyrany of the
Phallus... They are: Haiti, Hollywood and Corporate America.
...To find a job, to get a promotion, to climb the
ladder, to survive at large on the Haitian market, ( We do not say
always...But most of the time ) you better be nice and be ready to
go down your back when requested. Anyone has the right to use
whatever means she or he wants to achieve his/her goal. We are not
here to patronize you neither are we trying to dictate some puritan
vision of the world.
We stand behind the principle that a woman in the
work place, in Haiti, should not be forced, pushed, encouraged,
proposed, suggested to give sex in exchange of any kind of
favor. A woman who says no to her boss advances should not be
fired. The legislation should allow her to prosecute her boss, her
co-worker, her supervisor, get her job back, be compensated or
eventually get the boss fired.
Sexual harassment implies also inappropriate remarks,
persistent unwanted solicitations, persistent unwelcome proposals,
intimidation, touching, exhibitionism, indecent exposure, foul
language...
Our Intervention:
We need
arrest, jail time, fines, firing, financial compensation...We need
muscled measures and strong laws. We also need reeducation,
debates, conferences, town meetings around this despicable and
cathartic theme of sexual harassment in the working place, in Haiti..
Battered women
Nous
déplorons cette habitude. Plusieurs aujourd'hui encore,
battent leurs épouses en Haïti et s'en tirent à bon compte.
Cette pratique prend des proportions alarmantes dans toutes les
couches sociales, particulièrement parmi les classes dominantes.
Il est temps de sauter dessus, de l'étouffer dans la violence car
elle est une croque en jambe qui dégrade et emmerde le pays.
Nous avons rencontré des psychopathes, qui ont ris, qui ont eu du
bon temps, et ont tenté sans crainte de justifier leur comportement
Ils nous ont fait revivre des moments horribles...une réalité
bestiale, brutalement rétrograde.
Ils se plaignent tous d'un certain tyran en ville alors qu'eux même,
ils sont des tyrans domestiques..
Beaucoup de femmes
Haïtiennes
vivent comme des prisonnières intimidées chez elles par leurs propres
époux. Les lois existent, les institutions existent nominalement mais
le travail pour protéger les
Haïtiennes
abusées par leurs maris est inefficace et nul.
Cela expliquerait-il en partie cette explosion soudaine de déviance
? Est-ce une réaction inconsciente de jeunes femmes traumatisées dès
l'enfance par la brutalité et le manque de respect incontrôlable de
certains maris Haitiens?
...Il faut des mesures musclées, pour décourager la pratique
d'abuser les femmes...des menottes, quelques coups de pied, des coups
de bâton ici et là et parfois même, oui, un morceau de métal sous les
cotes.
-Ces hommes font de l'amour un sentiment dégradant.
Notre intervention:
Nous sommes
contre l'idée qu'un homme batte sa femme sous quelque prétexte que
ce soit...Nous dénonçons
cette conspiration du silence autour d'une pratique rétrograde tolérée
pendant 200 ans. Nous suggérons des mesures de bras de fer d'abord,
l'intervention des psychologues et tout le cadre bureaucratique après.
Unregulated abortion
Abortion is not for
contraception, condom, pills, IUD are.
Abortion however is practiced heavily in Haiti,
irresponsibly, in lieu and place of contraceptives.
It is hard to track them down and come up with statistics, because
of the veil of secrecy around the abortion business.
From one Heineken + 2
aspirins to the Transcervical suction; from a Metal hanger, a Bag
of leaves to the Mechanical scraping; from the Oxytocin to the
Morning after... Any kind of methods, one more dreadful than the
other are used every 10 minutes to abort a fetus somewhere in
Haiti. The toll of deaths resulting from those frivolous,
unregulated abortions goes beyond imagination...hemorrhage,
exsanguinations, uterine perforation, peritonitis, AIDS , STD,
hepatitis , uterine synechia, depression, emotional trauma...This is
simply unbelievable
Do
we know how many women die every day as a consequence of unregulated
abortions in Haiti?
What
about non qualified individuals practicing empiric abortions?
Should
not we have serious studies done around this issue?
Could
we do something to put a bit of decency in and around this practice?
Do
you know that is a pretty lucrative business?
Our
intervention:
Abortion is wrong and should be discouraged. However! every woman
should always have the right to run her life the way she finds the
most appropriate to her belief...Abort
or not to abort should finally be her own decision...not of the
state.
It is our responsibility as a society and as a nation, to provide
security to the Haitian women, to address their emotional concerns
and make sure that the procedures are done by qualified
individuals, in a safe environment.
Viol
L'une
des expériences des plus humiliantes, des plus troublantes, des plus
perturbatrices dans la vie d'une femme...C'est
bien le viol. Le viol est une infraction très grave. Il est grand
temps que l'on commence à le prendre très au sérieux en Haïti.
Il s'agit d'une situation où un
individu momentanément incapable de refuser, est exploité
sexuellement, contre sa volonté. En Haïti si l'on considère cette
définition du viol, une femme sur 7 adultes a été violée ou bien a
été placée dans une situation ou dire non aurait pu avoir une
conséquence désastreuse. Comme dans tous les pays du monde la
majorité de ces cas ne sont pas déclarés à cause du gêne, et du
bagage de ridicule qu'ils charrient.
Combien de paysannes!
Combien de prisonnières! Combien de « restavecs» de misérables, de
bonnes, d'employées de bas étages, de prostitués, de déprimées,
d'abruties, de filles du peuple et même des classes favorisées ont
été violées impunément dans l'histoire de ce pays?
Notre intervention
Nul n'a le droit, qu'il s'agisse d'une prostitué
ou d'un condamné à mort de forcer quiconque à avoir des rapports
sexuels contre sa volonté.
Une
mentalité banalisant le viol doit être combattue avec acharnement si
l'on veut créer un état de droit
Ne
serait-il pas correcte qu'un service de police soit directement
assigné au support des victimes de viol?
Les
organisations de femmes haïtiennes devraient prendre charge,
analyser le problème et proposer des solutions.
Alimony,palimony,child
support.
Fathers not
spending a dime on their out of wedlock children...
Abandoned or divorced wife's,
girlfriends, fiancés, mistresses, left alone in the wilderness,
deprived of any support. Women struggling like
mules to survive and feed their children...While a better living
biological father relaxes and choose deliberately to take care of
another set of kids. It is cruel, confusing and scary to be left
alone even with one child, as the sole responsible, the only
provider in a country where it is so hard to find money. Going
around pumping it up right and left, and walk out leaving a woman
with no income with a child on the shoulder is cruel... This habit
should be broken...firmly.
We have met lately, somewhere in
America, an Haitian woman living near misery and a state of abject
insecurity. Her former husband who used to beat her up and treat
her like dirt, forced her into exile and kept their daughters in
custody. This man, a big wheel in the Lavalas government, had
become a multi millionaire. They have been separated and are
divorced. While the man is running the dolce vita, the former wife
is struggling, drinking insults, working little temp jobs...here and
there in America. Why can't he be forced to pay 3 to 4000 / month
to this woman like everybody else? Why did he get the house, the
store, the cars, the bank account, the children and everything?
Our
Intervention:
Alimony,Palimony,Child support are just measured. Haiti needs the
reinforcement of those laws now, more than ever. Respect of women
goes by the reinforcement of existing laws, education of children
male and female. Let us make sure that the kindergarten boy of
today doesn't grow up insecure, irresponsible and limited. Let us
work for him not to become tomorrow, the deadbeat father, the child
molester, an abuser for our daughters, nieces, stepdaughters and
Goddaughters .
